Numbers never lie, but …

That does not mean they actually mean anything. My dad sent me a Chicago news station story about the Cubs game tonight. The story explained that the start time of the game in military format was 19:08, and 1908 was the last year the Cubs won the World Series. By the way did you know the Ottoman Empire still existed the last time the Cubs won the World Series? We can go on with that all night.

This playoff game is taking place on 10/7 and it has been 107 years since the Cubs won the World Series. Remember they have the slogan, anyone can have a bad century.  So my dad also sent this to my kids who asked me if all these numbers could be a coincidence.

Yes! That is all it is. There is nothin of about these random numerical interludes that signifies anything about the Cubs and their chances of winning the game, let alone the World Series. As I explained to my kids, numbers never lie, but that does not imply they are telling you any truths.
