My posting has been light, well nonexistent, as I am switching to a different web host. That should be finished soon and posting will continue. However, I looked at some labor market data for North Dakota cities and had to put together a quick post.
The decline in employment in Williston is continuing at a pace similar to, in fact possibly faster than, the increase. More on that when I get the web hosting switched. The increase was an amazing story and a legitimate economic phenomenon. It seems, unfortunately, the decline will be a similar story.
The most notable aspect of this might be the nearly unabated decline from the peak, regardless of any changes in outlook for oil prices. That seems important in terms of the outlook for the industry, and the economic effects on the state as a whole.
