We have an updated data point with a fourth unemployment claim reporting period. I updated the cumulative occupational distribution initial claims for that fourth period.
It shows some reductions in the share attributable to accommodations and food services. We also see an increase in claims share to health care and social assistance and retail trade. The increase in “unclassified” is not particularly helpful in terms of impacts but we need to make the best of the data we have. The analysis from before still stands though: a large share of the claims indicate lost output that will be difficult to see us make up once the issues pass.
