It is Veteran’s Day in the US, and I thought we should look at the distribution of veterans across the country and North Dakota. To do this I grabbed some data from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs. It includes both actual and projected veteran population data. First a look at the US as a whole.
Poverty in North Dakota
The Census Bureau releases updated data (2015 data) on poverty tomorrow so it seems prudent to review the data for North Dakota now. Poverty is an important topic, and intimately connected to the debate over income and wealth inequality that are all the rage right now. The situation in North Dakota is somewhat interesting, and how we talk about poverty is important. This discussion refers to table S1701 reporting the 5-year ACS estimates.
Population in North Dakota: Percentage Hispanic
A little data update regarding the North Dakota population. More of these will follow for sure. Looking at the American Community Survey over the last few years the percentage of the North Dakota population with hispanic origin is on the rise, and according to the last update for July of 2014 it is now above 3%.
