I update the numbers and discuss a few points made here before but the governor also made in his remarks today. I start discussing the economic fallout, but that is going to be a long and ongoing discussion.

The county level in North Dakota is concerning, just like we see at the state level. The increases in positivity and deaths are accelerating in some counties.

I give an update for the positivity data and then look at this as a percentage of the total population.

I changed the calculation slightly (to a 15 day moving average) so that it is a bit more sensible. I also provide the data broken out by larger counties. The overall picture here is not good, and Governor Burgum said it was the state’s worst statistical day.

Looking at counts for deaths avoids some of the questions surrounding the positivity rates. Put bluntly it is more difficult to argue about death.
